Climatic conditions

Winter was cold and dry in January, then mild and rainy in March. Weather conditions led to early budburst. At the end of April, severe frosts struck, destroying part of the harvest at Grand Renom… an event which would mark the vintage. Following this extreme weather event, the frozen parts of the vine were removed to encourage homogeneous regrowth. Flowering came late, but in good conditions. A hot, dry summer allowed the vine to make up for time lost due to the frost attack. Finally, September turned out to be a particularly mild month, allowing grapes to mature well and promising a fine vintage.

Vintage presentation

The wines have a good acidity and a high tannin content.

From the vine to the glass

Picking began in early October with grapes showing slight phenolic under-maturity. The pleasant, fruity potential of the grapes was essential in fixing the date of harvest.

Maceration and pumping over were shorter than usual, with wines expressing fine, fresh fruitiness. Freshness was also found on the palate.

As a result, wine was matured in vats to keep its full potential. A few one-wine barrels were added to the maturing process for extra complexity.

Tasting Notes

“Good deep red, lovely classic Bordeaux nose, modern, good natural tannins.”
Steven Spurrier’s Tasting notes, Wine Critic.

“With hints of jam and prune, the nose evokes maturity and concentration. Supple and mellow, tannins are pleasant, supporting a long, elegant palate. Fine harmony. Cellar potential: 2020-2025.”
